Frank and J.R., each with remarkable backgrounds in Anglo American and Eastern European folk, or vernacular music traditions, have over the last years converged paths to passionately apply themselves to early music. They prepared a special performance of music from the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, emphasizing the deep influence of vernacular music on the art music of the period. Selections included divisions upon grounds by Valentine Reading and Nicola Matteis, French dance sonatas by Jean-Marie Leclair and Jean-Fery Rebel, a sonata filled with "natural music" by Istrian composer Giuseppe Tartini, and Scottish airs arranged by Tuscans Francesco Geminiani and Francesco Barsanti.
